January Pastel Pencil - EDM Sketch a shell

Discovered I don't really like pastel pencils that much! It was very hard to get the colors the way I wanted them. Comments, suggestions appreciated!

2 Things Challenge -- Paper/Plastic

This week's challenge was paper/plastic. Here's my interpretation.

January Colored Pencil

Was sitting at the pool yesterday looking at some art work on the wall and was inspired to try this. It is ok. I think that I'll try it again another time and see if I can improve it.



I played with it a bit on photoshop too and liked the effect of liquifying it.

January Watercolors -- We Call It

The Everyday Matters topic for this week (EDM #206) is "We Call It." You are supposed to sketch something that is called one thing in the US and something else in another place. So, I picked two things:

1. Bandaids in the US -- In the UK, they are called plasters.
2. Diapers in the US -- In the UK, they are called nappies.

Would love your comments/suggestions. I had trouble with the people on the diaper package. Anyone have a good source for learning quick watercolor people?

January Watercolor -- Sketch a soda can

I definitely need more practice with watercolors! Had some trouble with bleeding paint. I also need to work on mixing colors to get better matches. I am most pleased with the shadow and the spilled lemonade. I might try this one again.

Sketching and Painting in 2009

One of my goals for 2009 is to learn to sketch and paint. I plan to paint 40 paintings and participate in the yahoo group called Everyday Matters. Look for posts every couple of days or so.
